The Church That Gives Itself Away!
Philippians 2:5-11

Frequently Asked Questions At First Baptist Church.

We want our front door to be as wide as our steeple is tall. In other words, we want to make it convenient and comfortable for you to visit our church. We want you to experience the inspirational music, encouraging messages, friendly people, and inviting atmosphere that our members enjoy each week. We hope your first experience makes you want to return, but we also know that your first time at a church brings up some questions. How do I get there? What should I wear? What’s available for my family? Here is a quick look at what you can expect.

How do I get there?
Clicking HERE will link you to a map of the church where you can enter your home address and get directions to First Baptist Church.

What should I wear?
We are more concerned that we meet your real life needs than with what you wear. When you visit First Baptist Church, you will see some men in coats and ties and others dressed more casually. You will find women in dresses and other women in more casual attire. Most of our young people wear the same clothes at church that they wear at school.

What is available for my family?
Your children will love First Baptist Church! From preschool to high school, they will find children their age in a secure environment having fun learning about God. We have Bible Fellowship Groups for adults, young and old, married and single. Just click HERE to see what we offer for the whole family.

What should I expect when I arrive?
We have parking lot greeters who will help you find a place to park and direct you to the proper entrance. At the doors, we have greeters who will help you find the information desk. At the information desk, we will help you find the place for your preschool child, elementary child, middle or high school child, a Bible Fellowship Group, or the worship center. You can expect a large church that is very friendly and personable. You can expect biblical teaching and preaching to help you with real-life concerns. As our guest, you won’t be expected to give an offering or pay for a ticket. The offering is for the First Baptist Family to support the ministry of the church. We don’t expect you to give, but we hope we have something to give to you.

What does First Baptist have for my family?
Attenders at First Baptist Cumming include people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences. There are people who have been growing in their Christian walk for years, others who are new to the Christian life, and others who are searching for purpose and hope.

The atmosphere at First Baptist is warm and inviting where everyone feels welcome. Whether you’re single or married, raising a family, or an empty nester, career-driven or retired, teenager or adult, you will find friendly people with whom you can relate and enjoy spending time.

At First Baptist Cumming, children are recognized as the gift God intended them to be. That same attitude is reflected in the ministries the church provides children from birth though high school.

Both the children and the youth ministries are housed in their own facilities on the church campus and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology in an environment that’s comfortable and inviting.

At First Baptist, we believe the larger we grow the smaller we must become. That’s why we offer small group, age-graded Bible study and discipleship groups so people can really get to know one another while discovering God’s plan for their life. Our adult ministries also include separate men and women fellowship groups for Bible study, fellowship, mission work, and accountability.

Family is at the heart of everything we do at First Baptist. We are all about building great lives and growing great families. We invite you to become a part of the family of faith at First Baptist.

What do we believe?

  • God is all powerful. He purposefully created us to know Him personally.
  • The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living. It’s the Owner’s Manual for life.
  • Jesus was not a martyr or simply a great teacher or prophet. Jesus is God showing himself to us.
  • Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through Christians today.
  • Nothing in creation “just happened.” God made it all.
  • Accepting God’s grace and forgiveness is the only way to have a personal relationship with Him.
  • Bible study, prayer, worship and Christian service are ways to grow in your relationship with God.
  • God has allowed evil to provide us with a choice. God can bring good even out of evil events,
and God promises victory over evil to those who choose Him.
  • Heaven and hell are real places. You will spend eternity in one or the other. Death is a beginning, not the end.
  • You will spend an eternity in Heaven if by faith, you admit you’ve sinned against God and receive His forgiveness offered through Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death and victorious resurrection.
  • The church is to serve people like Jesus served people.
  • Jesus is coming again as He promised.
