About Pastor Jed
Jed Coppenger serves as the Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church Cumming, where he works to help people discover and deepen a saving relationship with Christ. Jed’s leadership, rooted in a love for scripture and the local church, reflects his desire to connect biblical truth with everyday life to help people follow Jesus.
Pastor Jed earned his Master of Divinity at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Philosophy in Systematic Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to his role at FBC Cumming, he teaches, writes, and speaks widely, encouraging believers to think deeply, live faithfully, and engage culture with the hope of Christ. He recently wrote Fake Christianity: 10 Traps of an Inauthentic Faith (and How to Avoid Them) and 21 Days to Childlike Prayer: Changing Your World One Specific Prayer at a Time. Jed’s ministry reflects both pastoral care and theological clarity, guiding the church to live out its calling with conviction and compassion.
Jed is married to Melanie, and they have three children. He enjoys spending time with his family, preaching, coaching, and investing in the growth of future ministry leaders. Above all, Jed’s desire is to glorify God by leading FBC Cumming to be a church that embodies faith, hope, and love while reaching the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
